OLD VINE RESERVE
These old vines have grown beyond adolescence and are now fully mature. They have a root structure and trunk thickness that encourages diversity of flavour and character. Their worthiness has been proven over many vintages, consistently producing the highest quality fruit for Barossa wines of distinction and longevity.

VINEYARD NOTES
In 2019 we barrel selected fruit from 2 of our family vineyards. The Vine Vale Sands vineyard which is grown on heavy white sandy loam over brown and red clay. The vines are trained to the Rosback system with lift wires and cane pruned. The Rosenzweig vineyard which is grown on sandy brown loam over red clay and a deep limestone mix. The vines are trained to the Rosback system with lift wires and cane pruned. This year mother nature loved the cane pruning and yields were spot on.
HARVEST NOTES
The growing season started dry and continued that way. In September below average maximum temperatures, but over 3 oC below average minimums which delayed budburst and early vine growth. The drier soils combined with warmer than average October and November days meant vine growth caught up, but the below average minimum temperatures in November, and clear night skies resulted in another frost in November. If the frosts and dry conditions were not enough, the flowering period was windy and unsettled, and a hailstorm on 22 November topped it all off. The summer months of December and January experienced above average maximum temperatures. Destemmed only, 8 days and 9 days on skins, pumped over and plunged twice daily, open cage bag pressed cultured yeast added for ferment. Once complete we must extract the juice from the skins, and we do that with our computer controlled open cage air bag press to barrel. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation then we rack and return to barrel for maturation. All barrels are tasted for style and blended for bottling.
