Rosenvale ‘Highway One’ Vineyard

Stockwell.

The demand for high end Shiraz in the Barossa committed Rosenvale to build a vineyard with high end, super premium production and to buy further land to expand production. The land purchased for this vineyard has an ideal soil profile on a flat ground that provides draining air flows an ideal location for this to be successful.

Rosenvale’s philosophy was evolving. Its learnings at the Vine Vale Sands vineyard by being diversified and unique through clone selections and farming techniques set the benchmark for elevating the quality of fruit grown. With this in mind, there was no desire in taking a step backward to creating another “monoculture” vineyard, with the patience and a strong relationship with the winemakers, the BVRC12 Selection was planted. To continue to strive for excellence and uniqueness of fruit, four different rootstocks were chosen to provide a subtle difference in the expression of fruit.

The vineyards success over the years has flourished. It was selected as it was part of an industry rootstock trial.  This vineyard has taught us that diversity is important as well to question the thinking of monoculture. With our valuable learnings through trials of clone selections and rootstock selections, this has provided us with a spectrum of brilliant and differing fruit profiles across the variety selection and rootstocks.
