Vintage 2019
BAROSSA VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Gottfried and Johanna Rosenzweig emigrated to the Barossa in 1858, seeking a better life for their family from Germany (Prussia). 152 years on and seven generations of Rosenzweig Barossa farmers, later, the beginnings of this family heritage are celebrated with the inaugural launch of the “GOTTFRIED” Shiraz. As three generations of Rosenzweig currently operate the Rosenvale Vineyards there is a common goal in place; to provide a connection of work with family, building of knowledge through practice and history told through experience. To ensure there is a full understanding of how the fruit evolves across each of the Rosenvale vineyards, Rosenvale dedicates parcels from each of its vineyards for its own wine production. These parcels are made with minimal intervention to study and assess each unique aspect of each the vineyards character and fruit style. These parcels are made with love, to study and assess the unique characters and fruit styles of each of the vineyards.

VINEYARD NOTES
Northern Barossa vineyards grown on sandy brown loam over red clay and a deep limestone mix.

HARVEST NOTES
Drier soils combined with warmer than average October and November days October 2oC above average in BV and November 1.1oC above average in BV meant the vine canopies grew quickly; flowering well and setting a good number of bunches. January and February were warm and dry, with very warm temperatures in February. The Indian summer of March and early April was ‘the icing on the cake’, with average temperatures, without extremes, perfect for finishing off vintage.

"Richly fruited and instantly appealing, the wine shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, vanilla, roasted hazelnut and mixed spice aromas, leading to a supple palate that's succulent and silky-smooth. Upfront and delectably expressed, offering fabulous drinking. At its best: now to 2032." 94 Points - Wine Orbit, Sam Kim.
