2014 Rosenvale Reserve Semillon
Semillon…..Barossa’s white Princess. We take our Semillon vineyard planted in 1940 which is hand pruned the rod and spur way and trained on a modern trellis system. With attention to detail in the vineyard and the help of mother nature we harvest the fruit on a given flavour profile for this old Semillon clone. Our winemaker then creates a unique Barossa Reserve style.
The grapes are harvested whilst still cold, destemmed, pressed in our open-cage bag press to extract the free run juice which is chilled and allowed to settle before ferment. Enjoying a natural ferment in French oak barrels with extended lees contact and a short maturation time until bottling. This brings a point of difference to our Estate Semillon.
Created by hand and barrel to give us a refreshing, fruit-driven wine full of complex and attractive herb and lemon flavours, creative-mouth feel and the ability to sit in the cellar for a while to gain some bottle age.
Made for the Restaurant industry and home chef to show off alongside their food creations.

2013 Rosenvale Reserve Shiraz
Selected old vine Shiraz planted in the 1960s from our Crossings and Vine Vale Sands vineyards which produce low yields of approx two tonnes per acre to deliver the intense flavours required.
Harvested by flavour ripeness and fermented in open top fermenters and pumped over twice daily. The open cage bag press is used to lightly extract the wine from the skins and then placed into barrel where malo and ferment are completed, left to age for around 24 months in a range of new and seasoned French oak barrels. Each barrel is tasted for style then blended together.
Deep colours with a purple swirl in the glass. The aromas are dominated by dark fruit and spice which layer themselves on the palate with mouth filling tannins that have a lush drying finish just over raspberry chocolate. Acid balance in check as is the oak letting the fruit shine.

The Crossings vineyard planted in 1969 is the fruit source, with low yields around two tonnes per acre.
This wine is made by selecting the best barrels of Cabernet that we have at time of blending. Open top fermenters, open cage bag pressing and French oak barrel maturation for 24 months are the basics. We look for the Barossa Cabernet’s varietal flavours and the French oak influence by tasting on style for the Reserve.
Full bodied. Deep colours with aromas of blackcurrants, cassis and a small herbal note. The palate displays blackcurrant, cassis, dark fruits with a slight minty, leafy herbaceous flavour that complements the French oak and elegant tannins, seamless finish.

2017 Rosenvale Estate Rosé
The Barossa has two Spanish varieties being Grenache and Mataro which have a long history both here and in the EU. Rosenvale believes this area of the world has a few more varieties of interest so we planted our family vineyards with Tinta Cao, Graciano and Tinta Maderia with the sole purpose of making a Rose’ wine. The vineyards are young and on a modern trellis system. We prune for target yields in consultation with mother nature and the vineyard is managed on a Dynamic viticulture system.
The grapes are harvested at the same time based on flavour, acid, tannins with a target of about 12.5 Baume across all varieties. All the fruit is destemmed and pressed in our open cage bag press, chilled, settled, and then allowed to warm with wild yeast starting ferment. At some point cultured yeast is added to finish ferment.
Pale pink and salmon in colour with a wild berry aroma. The palate is dry but with a hint of fruit sweetness on the edge and a glossy mouth feel coats the wild berries, spice and tropical red fruits, balanced on fine acid and generous length.

2013 Rosenvale Estate Shiraz
Shiraz fruit from our Estate vineyards in the Barossa with yields dictated by Mother Nature using minimal input viticulture.
The grapes are harvested, destemmed to open and closed top vats for ferment. The ferment receives twice daily pump overs for up to 10 days then pressed separating the juice from the skins when the sugars are dry. We then rack to barrel where malo and ferment are completed, then left to age for around 12 months in four-year-old American oak barrels. The barrels are tasted for style and blended to produce a medium weight Barossa Shiraz.
Generous red colour. Both the nose and palate display opulent blackberry and plum fruit complementing the white chocolate and vanilla flavours with underlying spice for complexity. Good balance length and a plush finish.

2016 Rosenvale Estate Grenache
This Grenache vineyard is our oldest vineyard and one we are striving to preserve. Planted in 1935 and passing the test of time, we are now bottling the wine ourselves. The vines produce a limited number of grapes per year on a brown loam over red clay soil. The vines are spur pruned on a single trellis for better bunch position.
Harvested and fermented in open and closed top vats. Grapes are destemmed and chilled to cold soak for a few days then left to warm up and provide time for the wild yeast to start ferment.Cultured yeast is added at some point to complete ferment with extended time on skins. Our open-cage bag press softly presses the wine from the skins and seeds. Completing malo slowly through winter in French oak Barriques and maturing in these barrels for approx 12 months.
Rosenvale 2016 Grenache displays a medium – light red colour and a spicy, earthy dark blue berry aromas with the complexity of blue and red berries and spicy tones. Well structured plush then slightly drying tannins and controlled oak bring this all together.

2015 Rosenvale Cabernet Merlot
Cabernet is a diverse flavor profile and we aim for the dark fruit with leafy, fresh herb and tobacco notes in different strengths for our Estate and Reserve wines. There is always batches of wine that doesnt make the stylist approach we take for the Estate and Reserve Cabernet so they find their way into our blends label.
Merlot, well we have 4 (not so new now) clones to Australia but they are still unique. We just had to pick some of this fruit……
Colour: Cherry red, medium depth with a hint of purple on the hue.
Aroma: Plums, mulberry and fresh tobacco.
Palate: Layered with Plums, red fruits then mulberries with fine silky tannins showing green capsicum, mint, dried herbs, with a hint of chocolate through the finish.Enough length to satisfy. Fruit, oak, acid, tannin balanced on the softer side.
2015 Rosenvale Grenache Tempranillo
What a varietal pairing. Both Spanish varietals and they produce exceptional wines both in their home country as well as the Barossa. Grenache has been a main varietal in the Barossa from its early settlement and our vines were planted in the 1960’s. The Tempranillo is a younger vineyard introduced as part of our diversity and development program.
We aim for medium weight, elegant but structured wine. Grenache provides all the softness and elegance and the Tempranillo adds fullness with increased mouth feel and textured tannins.
Colour: Medium weight red brick with a ruby hue.
Aroma: Spicy lift over cherry and forest fruits with a hint of earthiness.
Palate: Cherries, Raspberries and spices from the Grenache lead the way with the Tempranillo kicking in the red currents and cola notes drawn through with gracious tannins for length and poise. Seamless flavours.
2015 Rosenvale Grenache Shiraz Mataro
Grenache and Grenache blends have been part of the Barossa wine story from the very early settler days and now as consumer tastes change from fortified wine to table wine the Barossa Valley has a new story to tell.
GSM is about poise, finesse and tasty flavours. We strive to show the complexity and finesse of Grenache. The structure and tannin from the Shiraz, with the Mataro adding dark fruit, length and complexity tying the overall wine together.
I will skip to the blending as this is where it all happens.By far this wine is always on your mind when you are in the cellar tasting barrels throughout the year. We start with the Mataro as it is a single vineyard wine. Now our knowledge of what is in the cellar comes into its own.
Medium density ruby red colour. Perfumed rose petal, red fruit and garden herbs.
We taste restraint in the richness but rewarded with building complexity and length. Raspberry, spice and fresh garden herbs flowing through soft tannins enhancing the dark and mulberry fruits with a dark chocolate end.
