2011 Rosenvale Vineyards Reserve Semillon
Semillon…..Barossa’s white Princess. We take our Semillon from our vineyard planted in 1940 which is hand pruned the old rod and spur way whilst on a modern trellis system. With attention to detail in the vineyard, we harvest on the flavour profile of this old Semillon clone and let mother nature, with our winemaker, create a unique Barossa Reserve style.
The grapes are harvested whilst still cold, destemmed, pressed in our open-cage bag press to extract the free run juice which is chilled and allowed to settle before ferment. Enjoying a natural ferment in French oak barrels with extended lees contact and a short maturation time in these barrels until bottling brings a point of difference to our popular Estate Semillon enjoyed by many.
Created by hand and barrel to give us a refreshing, fruit-driven wine full of complex flavours, creative-mouth feel and the ability to sit in the cellar for a while to gain some bottle age.
2012 Rosenvale Vineyards Reserve Shiraz
Selected old vine Shiraz planted in the 1960’s from our Crossings and Vine Vale Sands vineyards which produce low yields of approx two tonnes per acre to deliver the intense flavours required.
Harvested by flavour ripeness and fermented in open top fermenters. The basket press is used to lightly extract the wine from the skins and is placed into barrel where malo and ferment are completed, then left to age for around 24 months in a range of new and two year old French oak barrels. Each barrel is tasted for style then blended together.
Rich colour and showing delicious plum, cherry on the nose with a hint of spice. The palate combines many layers of dark fruit and spice lightly coated in dark chocolate with fine tannins and good length.
2013 Rosenvale Vineyards Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The Crossings vineyard planted in 1969 is the fruit source, with low yields around two tonnes per acre.
This wine is made by selecting the best barrels of Cabernet that we have at time of blending. Open top fermenters, basket pressing and French oak barrel maturation for 24 months are the basics. We look for the Barossa Cabernet’s varietal flavours and the French oak influence by tasting for style and selecting the best for the Reserve.
Full bodied. Deep colours with mocha and tobacco wrapped around focused dark fruits on the nose. The lengthy palate of blackcurrant, cassis, dark fruits with a slight minty, leafy herbaceous flavour that complements the French oak of tobacco and coffee, seamless long finish.
Our Estate Range of wines are styled to capture generous varietal fruit flavour with minimal or no oak. Ready to enjoy on release.
2011 Rosenvale Vineyards Estate Semillon
Semillon vines planted in 1940 are the back bone of this wine. This single vineyard is hand pruned the old rod and spur way on a modern trellis system. With attention to detail in the vineyard and winery, we harvest on taste to bring out the flavour profile of this old Semillon clone and create our style.
The grapes are harvested very early in the morning, destemmed, open-cage bag pressed, chilled to tank and allowed to settle before ferment. Enjoying a long cool ferment to maximise flavours, and after fermentation, the wines are filtered and bottled under screw cap.
Created without oak, made dry yet showing fruit sweetness whilst retaining naturally high acidity. It is crafted around the ripened fruit flavours of pears, apples, lanolin with floral notes and underlying limes. These flavours transfer onto the palate with a hint of talc with a crisp dry-mouth feel.
2015 Rosenvale Vineyards Estate Rosé
The Barossa grows a few Spanish grape varieties mainly Grenache and Mataro. James believes Spain offers a few more varieties of interest, so we planted our family vineyards with Tinta Cao, Graciano and Tinta Molle with the sole purpose of making a Rosé wine. The vineyards are young, fresh and on a modern trellis system. We prune for target yields in consultation with mother nature and the vineyard is managed on dynamic viticulture systems with environmental accreditation.
The grapes are harvested at the same time based on flavour, acid and tannins with a target of about 12.5 Baumé. The fruit is destemmed to the press and allowed to soak on skins for a while before being pressed, chilled, settled, and then allowed to warm with wild yeast starting ferment. At some point cultured yeast is added to finish ferment.
Fruit sweetness with a dry edge and a glossy mouth feel coats the wild berries, spice and tropical red fruits, balanced on fine acid and generous length.
2013 Rosenvale Vineyards Estate Shiraz
Shiraz fruit from our Estate vineyards in the Barossa with yields dictated by Mother Nature using minimal input viticulture.
The grapes are harvested, destemmed to open and closed top vats for ferment. The ferment receives twice daily pump overs for up to 10 days then pressed separating the juice from the skins when the sugars are dry. We then rack to barrel where malo and ferment are completed, then left to age for around 12 months in four-year-old American oak barrels. The barrels are tasted for style and blended to produce a medium weight Barossa Shiraz.
Generous red colour. Both the nose and palate display opulent blackberry and plum fruit complementing the white chocolate and vanilla flavours with underlying spice for complexity. Good balance and length.
2014 Rosenvale Vineyards Estate Grenache
This Grenache vineyard is our oldest vineyard. Planted in 1935 and passing the test of time, we are now bottling the wine ourselves. The vines produce a limited number of grapes per year on a brown loam over red clay soil. The vines are spur pruned on a single trellis for better bunch position.
Harvested and fermented in open and closed top vats. Grapes are destemmed and chilled to cold soak for a few days then left to warm up and provide time for the wild yeast to start ferment. Cultured yeast is added at some point to complete ferment with extended time on skins. Our open-cage bag press softly presses the wine from the skins and seeds. Completing malo slowly through winter in French oak Barriques and maturing in these barrels for approx 12 months.
The Grenache displays a medium red colour and a spicy raspberry fruit nose with the complexity of raspberry and spice integrating well with dark plums over a lengthy palate finishing on soft tannins, good structure, oak control and length.
2013 Rosenvale Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
We select fruit from our Cabernet vineyards located at Vine Vale, Nuriootpa and Stockwell. This produces a range of different Cabernet wines that when blended gives us our Estate profile.
The fruit was picked at the flavour point we wanted for the location then crushed, fermented with final ferment done in about 85% French and 15% American oak barrels. After ferment is complete, the wines are assessed for style and left to age for around 12 to 18 months in barrel.
A medium full-bodied wine with great colour. Dark sweet fruits with a hint of herbal leafiness on the nose translating to blackcurrants and leafy herbaceous spice with an underlying red capsicum note on a lengthy palate. Finishing with soft tannins, balanced acid palate structure.
This wine has good cellaring potential, but was made to be enjoyed now.
Our Blends Range is all about the magic and craft of blending different grape varieties.
2015 Rosenvale Vineyards Sparkling Blanc

2015 Rosenvale Vineyards Cabernet Merlot
This classic blend is showing lifted fruit characters and wonderful integration of the two varieties with the smallest addition of Shiraz to add more complexity and structure to the wine. With 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and that subtle hint of 7% Shiraz, this wine is an example of the diversity and depth of flavours the Rosenvale Vineyards produce.
The wine shows lifted aromas of plums, raspberries and boysenberries whilst the palate has a well rounded mouth feel enhanced by a richness of fruit evenly balanced by subtle oak and tannin. The Merlot was picked with full flavour ripeness from our northern Barossa vineyard at Stockwell displaying great varietal characteristics whilst the Cabernet Sauvignon was from the home block displaying luscious valley floor flavours. Aged in majority older French oak with a barrel of new oak to add subtle spiced characters. The wine has an integrated rich and lingering mouth feel with some aged complexity starting to show through in the wine.
2015 Rosenvale Vineyards Grenache Tempranillo
What a varietal pairing. Both Spanish varietals and they produce exceptional wines both in their home country as well as the Barossa. Grenache has been a main varietal in the Barossa from its early settlement and our vines were planted in the 1960’s. The Tempranillo is a younger vineyard introduced as part of our diversity and development program.
We aim for medium weight, elegant but structured wine. Grenache provides all the softness and elegance and the Tempranillo adds fullness with increased mouth feel and textured tannins.
Medium weight, red brick with a ruby hue. Spicy lift over cherry and forest fruits with a hint of earthiness and cola bean. Cherries, raspberries and spices from the Grenache lead the way with the Tempranillo kicking in the red currants and cola notes drawn through with gracious tannins for length and poise. Seamless flavours.
2014 Rosenvale Vineyards Grenache Shiraz

An easy drinking wine, gentle palate and long lingering finish makes this a great accompaniment to charcuterie or crack one open when having a pizza. Very approachable, easy drinking well rounded wine.
2015 Rosenvale Vineyards Grenache Shiraz Mataro
GSM….Grenache Shiraz Mataro. Three varieties well suited to the Barossa Valley. Our aim with this blend is to try and showcase the complexity all three varieties can bring to a Grenache without one of them dominating.
Grenache is soft and elegant and with our style we like to bring Shiraz in for some palate strength with a diverse offering whilst the Mataro should tie it all together with complexities.
Bright medium density ruby red. Lifted strawberry, plum to dark fruits with a hint of spicy oak, black forest cake. Rich but elegant profile from strawberry to dark fruits with entwined sage, dried tobacco and a sweet dark choc finish. Firm but velvety tannins carry the well balanced length.
